A Simple Dynamic Tonehole Model for Real-Time synthesis of Clarinet-like Instruments

In this paper, we present a digital method to simulate the effect of dynamic geometry modification of a simplified clarinet bore induced by tonehole closing or opening. For this purpose, we first consider a physical tonehole model where the closing of the hole is achieved by progressively reducing its radius. In the context of real-time synthesis of woodwind instrument tones obtained from digital models such as those developped by Guillemain [5], we propose a simplified method that preserves the main characteristics of the physical model. The results of the two methods are compared.
